Building Updates

Demolition has begun! Photos from January 9, 2025

December 25, 2025

Things continue to happen behind the scenes as we lay the necessary groundwork for beginning the renovation process. The architectural plans are mostly finalized and the general contractor has asked for specific bids from mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC contractors based on those plans. In addition, we are still waiting on some information from the structural engineer consultant. The plans will be going before the P&Z commission in January but we don't anticipate any issues.  Once we have a final cost from the general contractor, we'll review everything carefully for potential reductions in cost, and will then re-engage in discussions with the bank for financing based on our pledge amount. When we are comfortable with information from the bank and our total collections from the HOME campaign, we can begin construction.  At this point, we are aiming for renovation work to start in February.  More to come!

Fall, 2025

While it might look like nothing is going on with our building renovation, things are happening. Final design drawings should be ready for the contractor soon. The contractor will use those drawings to create a final budget. The structural engineer was on site last week and will prepare a plan for removing the load-bearing side walls on the upper floor which will become the sanctuary. Electricians installed an electrical feed and brush has been cleared out behind the building. A new sign has been placed along the street announcing our plans, and we’ve had some positive response from the community about it. Also talks with the bank are ongoing to create a financial plan that saves as much interest cost as possible. At this point, we are hoping demolition can begin in February. Once demolition starts, we’ll begin posting some potos on the HOME portion of the River City website. If you have any questions, see David Cornett.
